Buy Emperor I Upright Japanese Maple online. 'Emperor I' is an improved version of 'Bloodgood', and is similar in growth habit, although this tree has a lighter almost translucent quality to the leaves. It holds its red color well throughout the summer months, and has a brilliant crimson fall display. It is one of the best choices for heat tolerance in southern states, although it still needs to be planted in a shady area.

Just planted it on east side of house in a pot, it is about 3 feet tall with only a half inch trunk. So far so good, I love the beautiful color. It seems to love the spot I put it and it gets about 2 hours of morning sun and is in the shade the rest of the day. Love it!!!

The EMPEROR 1 upright Japanese maple is very HARDY. I grow it in Zone 4a without Winter protection. It lived thru The winter of 2014, where it withstood 30 days of -0ºF for 33 days. It also survived that Winter with a Low of -30F. It also leafs out later too.
