Prairie Gold® Aspen captures everything people love about quaking aspens, with added toughness for real-world landscapes. Its rounded leaves tremble and whisper with the slightest breeze, creating motion, sound, and visual texture that few trees can match. In autumn, the foliage transforms into a radiant golden yellow that lights up the landscape from a distance.

This exceptional selection was discovered in east-central Nebraska by the late plantsman Allen Wilke and has proven unusually adaptable. Unlike many aspen seed sources that struggle in heat and humidity, Prairie Gold® Aspen shows strong resistance to leaf spot and performs reliably in regions previously considered unsuitable for aspens. Its resilience has expanded the possibilities for planting aspens well beyond their traditional range.

A rapid grower with a natural tendency to form colonies, Prairie Gold® Aspen is especially well suited for acreages, shelterbelts, and large naturalized settings. Over time, it creates groves that feel established, cohesive, and alive with movement. For landowners seeking fast coverage, seasonal drama, and a true native presence, Prairie Gold® Aspen is a powerful and proven choice.
