Buy Stay Classy® Purpleleaf Sand Cherry online. Finally, a better Purpleleaf Sand Cherry! The first cross for this landscape staple was made in South Dakota back in 1910, but not much has happened to improve it since then. Stay Classy® Purpleleaf Sand Cherry changes that! An introduction from Dr. Mark Brand at the University of Connecticut. Its foliage is very dark, but there's plenty of space within its branches and leaves to avoid the dreaded "black hole" look. It's also about half the size of conventional types. It bears pretty white flowers in spring, but this is really more of a foliage workhorse, equally suited to beautifying home and residential landscapes.

Family: Rosaceae · Common Name: Cherry/Peach/Plum/Almond/Nectarine/Apricot

FREE with every plant purchased:

  • The Sooner Guarantee: For details, click here!
  • A pre-applied, pre-measured amount of time release fertilizer that keeps your plant well nourished for up to one year.
  • Pre-hydrated Hydro-Gels are included in the top of each container to use when planting as they help retain soil moisture, and plants will establish more quickly with less transplant shock. Plants will also survive drought-like conditions and accidental missed waterings better.
