You don't want a birthday party to flop, and Party Hardy™ Birthday Party Sedum takes that concept seriously. This compact, well-structured stonecrop was bred to hold its shape, producing thick, sturdy stems that stay upright even when crowned with oversized blooms. From the moment it emerges, the succulent foliage brings color and texture long before flowering begins.
The leaves are richly tinted purple-maroon with glossy highlights, deepening as the season progresses and providing months of ornamental value. In late summer to early fall, massive flower heads up to five inches wide rise above the foliage, glowing in deep rose-pink tones. These blooms are highly attractive to butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, turning the plant into a lively focal point just as many perennials begin to fade.
Part of the Party Hardy™ Series, 'Birthday Party' was developed for compact growth, drought tolerance, and exceptional garden reliability. It thrives in full sun, poor to average soils, and low-water conditions where other plants struggle. Ideal for borders, rock gardens, and mass plantings, this sedum delivers season-long color, structural integrity, and carefree performance with celebratory flair.

PARTY HARDY™ BIRTHDAY PARTY SEDUM Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips
- Recommended Soil:
- Well-drained soil is essential for healthy growth.
- Performs best in average to poor soils.
- Avoid rich or heavily amended soils, which can cause lanky growth.
- Sun Exposure:
- Full sun provides the strongest stems and best flowering.
- Light shade is tolerated but may reduce bloom size.
- At least 6 hours of direct sunlight is recommended.
- Irrigation Needs:
- Low water needs once established.
- Allow soil to dry slightly between waterings.
- Overwatering increases the risk of rot and weak stems.
- Feeding & Nutrients:
- Minimal feeding is required.
- Excess fertilizer encourages soft growth and flopping.
- A light spring compost application is sufficient.
- Pruning & Maintenance:
- Pinch taller growth back by half in early summer to thicken stems.
- Divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain compact habit.
- Leave spent flower heads for winter interest and remove in spring.
