Shipping postponed due to excessive heat
At Sooner Plant Farm, our goal is for every customer to receive healthy plants and experience long-term success after planting. During periods of excessive summer heat, shipping plants can place them under severe stress before they even rrive. Rather than risk your investment, we temporarily postpone shipping until conditions improve.
Delivery trucks and shipping hubs can reach temperatures well above the outside air temperature. Prolonged exposure to these conditions can severely stress plants during transit, reducing their ability to establish successfully after planting. We would much rather delay your shipment than knowingly send plants under conditions that give them a reduced chance of long-term success.
When temperatures exceed 90°F in either our location or your delivery area, we may temporarily postpone and reschedule shipments as needed. With decades of combined horticultural experience, we know that planting during prolonged periods of extreme heat is one of the leading causes of transplant stress. Even with proper watering, plants often struggle to establish healthy root systems when temperatures remain above 90°F.
Our goal in postponing shipping on orders is to provide the highest quality plants, exceptional customer service, and knowledgeable guidance so your landscape investment has the greatest opportunity for long-term success.

Waiting a few weeks to plant during cooler weather gives your plants a significantly greater opportunity to establish healthy root systems and thrive for years to come.
For this reason, we strongly encourage you to select "PLEASE SHIP FALL 2026, AT THE PROPER TIME FOR MY ZONE" during checkout. This allows us to ship your plants when temperatures are more favorable for successful transplanting in your area. Weather permitting, we currently anticipate resuming normal shipping around mid-August, although this may vary depending on temperatures in both Oklahoma and your delivery area.
If you choose to have your order shipped against our recommendation, we will process and ship your order as requested. Please understand that shipping during periods of extreme heat significantly increases the risk of damage during transit. Therefore, all guarantees covering the condition of the plants upon arrival, as well as any extended plant guarantees, will be void. Orders placed using the "SHIP NOW" option will be documented as having the guarantee voided due to the customer's request to ship during excessive heat.
Because orders selected for immediate shipment are promptly processed and prepared for shipping, cancellation requests submitted after an order has been charged may be subject to a cancellation fee of up to 35%.
