I purchased 3 of these trees 3 years ago. I live in Texas where the summers can be very hot and dry. I planted them on by the street in front of my house to give me some morning shade. The first year I lost one tree and the other two didn't grow much. The second year was a very hot and dry summer. Full size trees were dieing from the heat that year. The third year these trees have exploded in growth. I love them and cannot wait to see them in fall.

Very fast growing, handled our extreme Texas sun better than the Autumn Blaze that was planted the previous year. I think it has better natural branching than the AB as well. I also love the large leaves, will be a great shade tree when mature.

We have one of these and the growth rate has been great, and as stated drought resistant, and great fall color. So far it has been more spreading than our Autumn Blaze. I have to say I like this tree a little bit better than Autumn Blaze. HIGHLY recommend this tree.
