Our favorite. A beautiful and rugged selection that is one of the earliest to bloom in our climate and always draws lots of admiration from visitors to our garden. For about a month in June to early July, the shoots look like little torches in the sunlight. The leaves are shiny and the older leaves are turning the signature coppery purple color while the emerging foliage at the tip of the shoot is bright green. Then come the buds and the anticipation of that first bloom to open. We cut our flowers the morning that they open and they last in a vase (where we can enjoy them while following our daily routine) through the following evening. Bey then, there are more flowers to replace the wilting ones. If you only have room for one, this should be seriously considered.

KOPPER KING FLEMING™ HARDY HIBISCUS Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips

Hardy Hibiscus is easy to grow and adapts to most conditions. Remove dead canes in early spring to avoid root rot during the winter. One of the last plants to break dormancy in spring, and can stay dormant into early summer. Feed once a year with a slow release fertilizer.
