Chinese Dogwood is vase-shaped in youth, with age, forming a rounded appearance with distinct stratified branching pattern.Leaves are thicker than white dogwood and darker green, almost blue-green in summer, changing to reddish purple to scarlet in fall. Flowers are small and inconspicicuous and start out green turning to white.
