Frank Schmidt & Son was selected due to its predictably upright narrow form that facilitates uniform street tree plantings. Green leaves cover its oval to pyramidal, narrow growing habit before turning hues of yellow in the fall. Unlike many trees of seedling origin that hold brown leaves throughout the winter, fall leaf drop is clean and complete. Fruit set appears hop-like in appearance, and makes an attractive addition to this excellent urban tree.
