During the cooler months, the flowers can display a significant amount of magenta coloring which radiates out from the center of the flower onto the petals. The cooler the weather, the more prominent the magenta color becomes. Like other members of the Big Bang™ series, 'Cosmic Evolution' is also the result of many years of intensive breeding work and the crossing of at least 8 species of Coreopsis by hybridizer Darrell Probst.
