Walking through our greenhouses day after day, one plant that continually stands out is 'Devon Skies' Blue Eyed Grass. Forming a carpet of small blue flowers and grass like foliage, this zone 7 plant has alot to offer. Perfect for mass planting in full sun or part shade for a woodland type garden.

In my 20+ years of working in the nursery business, the April freezes of 2007 were by far the most devastating. Many plants and trees sustained severe damage and just as many were completely killed. Japanese Maples across the nation took a major hit, and we were of no exception. Last years experience has taught me to be a little more patient when welcoming the arrival of spring. Here is northeast Oklahoma the forsythia and native daffodils are in full bloom, fortunatly other trees and shrubs are still holding on to winter dormancy, that is a good thing we sure dont want a repeat.
Here are a few tips to help keep plants dormant for as long as possible.
Avoid applying fertilizers until after the last freeze date. Pruning and shearing stimulate new growth and should be done mid winter when plants are in deep dormancy or after the last freeze date for your area or zone. New planted and young plants can be protected with tomato cages filled with leaves until the last freeze date.

We have received alot of emails and calls regarding the new addition to the Knockout Rose family, Sunny Knockout⁜
The latest update is not good. What was to be a limited July 2008 release, seem now is pushed up to January 2009. I have calls in to the producer, but to date I have not had any response. I will be sure to keep you informed if I hear anything. Be sure to add your email address to the get notified tool, if you are interested in this new rose.
